If you order in advance we will hold your order back and post out closer to the time, that’s why we ask you for a date required by on the website, icing toppers around 7-10 days and wafer paper/wafer card around 2 weeks before, sometimes less during the summer when its hot, as the warm weather can effect the icing sheets as they need to be kept cool at room temperature and away from humidity.
What are icing sheets?
Icing sheets are made up of a thin layer of icing that can be printed on using edible ink. The thin layer of icing is fixed to a plastic backing sheet and comes pre-cut as 10″ by 7.5″ oblong, 7.5″ round, 7.5″ square, 2″ round and 1.5″ round. Our sheets are easy peel making it quick and easy to decorate your already iced cakes, cupcakes, cookies and treats. Custom shapes and sizes now available on request.
Icing sheets are the preferred form of edible paper for use on cakes. They are easy to use and the colours and print quality is by far superior to Wafer paper/card.
Please note that icing sheets are not intended to replace icing, it should be placed onto any dry type of icing. The icing sheet will then bond with your topping.
We find sugar paste or butter cream are the best topping to use with icing sheets. If using a wet or dark coloured icing we recommend placing the topper/toppers onto a piece of sugar paste first which is then left to dry 24 hours before placing on the cake, this then stops the moisture from the wet icing dissolving the thin icing sheet.
Our Icing Sheets:
- High quality icing sheets will work with dry icing the best.
- Smooth white finish which results in brilliant print finish
- Easy-Peel – Meaning they are easy to remove from backing sheet
- Free from all 14 Allergens
- Suitable for vegetarians and vegans
Apply the Edible Cake Topper to the cake as close to use as possible as prolonged exposure to moisture from the icing can affect the print quality (no more than 2 days) and stored in a cake box and not an air tight container if possible.
What is wafer card/paper?
Wafer paper or card is a translucent sheet usually made of rice or potato flour.
Wafer paper is transparent and suitable for cupcakes, cookies and other flat sweet treats, images will increase in colour intensity and become more vibrant when placed on a sugar paste plaque with edible glue.
The wafer card we stock is premium quality and approximately 0.65mm thick, therefore would be suitable for stand-up images and is less likely to curl if not being placed onto a flat surface like the thinner wafer paper.
Apply to sugar paste with edible glue, for the wafer card or paper to stick to buttercream you will need to apply it before a crust forms.
Unlike many supplies our wafer paper and card is pre-sweetened, giving a much more pleasant taste than the standard available.
Will keep for 6-12 months from date purchased, when kept in a sealed ziplock bag provided and out of direct light.
Apply to cake as close to use as possible as prolonged exposure to moisture from the icing can affect the print quality (no more than 2 days) and same day if possible for wafer paper and wafer card as the ends can curl up slightly if your toppers have a lot of dark ink on them.
