Please read instructions below before removing topper from its plastic bag.
Firstly please check to make sure the topper fits your cake, as it may need to be cut to size with a pair of clean scissors.
How to remove your topper from the backing paper.
Do not take your edible cake toppers out of their packaging until you need to use them for decoration as humidity in the air will effect them- please store at room temp not in a fridge or freezer.
Step 1
Place your edible cake topper into the freezer flat on a box on in an empty draw for 3 to 5 minutes.
Step 2
Whilst waiting - your icing on your cake needs to be moist - if you have used dried icing eg sugar paste cover the top with a few droplets of water, smooth over the top with your finger tips and leave to dry for a few minutes before laying the topper on your cake.
Step 3
Remove the topper from its backing paper whilst still in the freezer then carry over to your cake and place on top. This process must be done within a few seconds before the topper has a chance to defrost.
With fairy cup cake toppers cut the sheet into four strips and then place them all in your freezer, flat on a box or in an empty draw. Then after three minutes, remove the toppers from the backing sheets, as above, and repeat until all done.
Another Method:
If you are having trouble getting the icing of the backing sheet you can put the topper in a electric fan oven on a low temperature of 60-80c (gas ovens turn off once warm before putting topper in ) for 2-10mins, after 2mins take the topper out and let it cool down, if it then doesn’t come of put it back in for a further 2mins, repeat this until it has completely dried out and comes of the backing sheet, be careful when handling the topper as its now brittle and firm.
DO NOT let the freezer drip or frost onto the icing, this will make holes in the icing, cover with cling film if you think your freezer will do this.
If the toppers don't come away from the backing sheets you may need to make sure your freezer is back up to temperature, leave it for 1 hour and try again.
DO NOT add too much water to your cake covering as too much moisture will make your topper dissolve, these cannot be placed in a fridge.
If using butter cream you must make sure its had time to dry before placing your topper on. It is best to add the topper to a butter cream cake 30-60 mins before the party as the moisture from the icing can make the topper go sticky. Cake toppers on sugar paste cakes can be done days before. If your butter cream cake came out of the fridge you must wait until it warms up before adding the topper as the cold will make the topper sticky.
WAFER TOPPERS-these come pre-cut in a small bag and look best placed on a swirl of butter cream, can be done the day before but can only be stored in a box not in a air tight container or in the fridge.
Best Before : JUNE 2013.
